Launch of 100 Day Challenge to Save the Bawdi
18 January 2018
Day 1 of the 100 day challenge to save the Bawdi was marked by a visit to the Bawdi to get apprised of its condition. The squatter settlement next to the Bawdi had been shifted and loads of earth had been dumped along and into the Bawdi for road construction. The circular well of the Bawdi had been completely filled in and the remaining parts were in process of being filled up. As the SSAA team reached the site, the trucks and diggers left the site. Outreach through social media and reaching out to our networks resulted in putting a stop to the road work and assurance from the HUDA Administrator that no further harm will come to the Bawdi. The next few days were marked by newspaper coverage on the issue in a number of newspapers such as Times of India, Indian Express, Jagran and Dainik Bhaskar. SSAA will celebrate 18 January as its Heritage Watch Day every year!
